Feldman gets the win, Jones and Davis homer as O's top Rockies

Scott Feldman pitched a strong game, Adam Jones joined an exclusive homer club and Brian Roberts came up with another key hit as the Orioles beat Colorado 7-2 this afternoon in front of 22,238 at Camden Yards. The O's won the series after losing the Friday opener and improved to 67-56. Not to be upstaged, Chris Davis hit another homer, a two-run shot in the eight to extend the lead to 7-2. It was his 45th of the year and leaves him one behind Jim Gentile, who hit 46 in 1961, for third on the O's single-season list. Davis had a four-hit day. Feldman took a two-hit shutout and 3-0 lead to the seventh before the Rockies scored twice to knock him from the game. Entering with an ERA of 7.66 in four home starts, Feldman went 6 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts. He improves to 3-3 with an ERA of 4.84 in eight O's starts. The Orioles took a 1-0 lead on an Alexi Casilla two-out RBI single in the second. Casilla was 1-for-16 on the year with runners in scoring position and two outs until that single. Jones hit a two-run homer in the third, scoring Davis, who doubled, for a 3-0 lead. It was Jones 25th homer and RBIs Nos. 88 and 89. Jones went 3-for-4 and was 6-for-10 over the last two games of this series. Jones became the second O's outfielder with three seasons of 25 homers or more. Frank Robinson did that five times as an Oriole. He is also the seventh in club history with three or more 25-homer seasons and joins a list that includes Cal Ripken Jr., Lee May, Eddie Murray, Rafael Palmeiro and Boog Powell. After the Rockies trimmed the deficit to 3-2, Roberts' key two-run single in the seventh made it a 5-2 game. Over his last seven games, Roberts is batting .478 (11-for-23) with seven RBIs. Roberts had a two-run double last night and this is the first time he's had back-to-back multi-RBI games since the first two games of the 2011 season. Colorado losing pitcher Jhoulys Chacin had pitched to an ERA of 2.02 over his previous seven starts and had a road ERA of 1.87 coming into this outing, but gave up three runs and nine hits over 5 1/3 frames. It was a nice bounce-back for the Orioles to win back-to-back games and take this series after losing four in a row. On Monday night, they begin a key series with AL East rival Tampa Bay here at 7:05 p.m. when Chris Tillman (13-3, 3.70 ERA) faces David Price (6-5, 3.28 ERA). The Orioles are 24-23 vs. the AL East this season and 5-7 against Tampa Bay.
