Finally another homer with someone on base for the Orioles (Betemit ties it)

The Orioles finally have hit another homer with someone on base. After Nick Markakis hit a two-run shot in the first inning on opening day, the Orioles' next nine homers were all solo shots by five different players. But Chris Davis showed off his power potential in the top of the fourth today at Toronto with a two-run blast that gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead. Davis got an offspeed pitch up and in from Henderson Alvarez and didn't miss it, hitting his third homer as an Oriole after he had gotten off to a 4-for-20 start at the plate. The Orioles hit three homers last night in the win and now have 11 on the year. Right-hander Jason Hammel, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of his first start, today lost the no-no two batters into the game when Kelly Johnson homered. In that start against the Twins, Hammel gave up just two hits in 24 at-bats but today the Jays went 5-for-9 against him the first time through the order. But Davis' homer gave him the lead and we'll see if he and the team can build on that and/or hold it today. Hammel needed 56 pitches today to get through the first two innings. On Sunday against the Twins, he needed just 58 pitches over the first five innings. After going 3-for-6 with runners in scoring position last night, the Orioles have gone 0-for-5 in the first four innings today, but they still have the lead at this point in Toronto. Game update: After his error helped Toronto score twice in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead in the game, Wilson Betemit hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth to tie the game 4-4. Betemit came up with a key two-run single in the eighth last night.
