For Preston Guilmet, the Norfolk-Baltimore shuttle makes another stop at Camden Yards

Right-hander Preston Guilmet knows the Norfolk-Baltimore shuttle well. He was recalled to the majors from Triple-A yesterday and this is already his fifth stint with the club. He was with the Orioles previously from May 11-13, May 22-23, May 25-June 6 and on July 5 when he was the 26th player for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. So he's getting kind of used to the shuttle at this point. "You just have to go out there, whether you are here or down there in Norfolk, go out and compete. And when the opportunities come up, just make the best of them," Guilmet said. "That is exactly the best way to look at it. Just another opportunity to come up here and help the club out." In 28 games with Norfolk, Guilmet is 4-1 with a 4.45 ERA. In nine games with the Orioles, he is 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA. His last appearance for the team came on June 5 when he gave up three hits and a run over one-third of an inning against Texas. In his last nine Triple-A outings before his latest recall, Guilmet gave up just two runs over 10 1/3 innings. "Just really trying to go out there and hang with it. Fight through the bad times and get back on track," he said. The 26-year-old Guilmet was acquired on April 7 in a trade with Cleveland for minor league outfielder Torsten Boss. Guilmet was originally drafted in the 22nd round by Oakland in the 2008 draft and again in the ninth round by Cleveland a year later out of the University of Arizona. He entered 2014 with a 20-15 record, a 2.71 ERA and 94 saves in six minor league seasons. He said he is starting to feel more comfortable with his O's teammates and enjoys the chemistry of the bullpen. "Oh yeah, definitely. It does get more comfortable," he said. "It's a great team and the chemistry is awesome. It's a long season, so it's really nice to come together as a group of guys and not just go out and play baseball but actually get along and have fun doing it."
