Frederick is set to host the Carolina League All-Star game

OAKLAND - The All-Star break has arrived in the Single-A Carolina League, and tomorrow night the Orioles' Frederick Keys affiliate will host the All-Star game at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

Frederick previously hosted All-Star games in 1991 and 2005. In that most recent game, the Orioles' Nick Markakis not only won the pregame Home Run Derby, but hit two homers in the game to lead the Carolina League past the California League.

The All-Star Classic, presented by Visit Frederick, will include pregame ceremonies starting at 7 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 7:15. A Skills Challenge will take place from 5-6 p.m. while Fan Fest is from 3-6. There will be fireworks following the game.

The Keys announced today that field-level seating is now sold out. Only general-admission seating is available for the game after reserved seating sold out on June 7.

The Keys will be very well represented in tomorrow's game. They had seven players named to the North squad recently. And since then two other Keys were added to the All-Star roster.

Right-hander Cody Sedlock was named to the team. The Orioles' first-round pick in 2016 (No. 27 overall) has gone 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA in eight starts. He's allowed just 20 hits while recording 41 strikeouts and a .140 average against over 43 2/3 innings.

But Sedlock has not pitched since May 25. He recently felt some elbow discomfort, and the team backed off him briefly. But he's back throwing and recently threw a live batting practice session. He is not expected to pitch in this game, but the current plan is for him to re-enter the rotation sometime after the All-Star break.

Right-hander Michael Baumann is on the North squad after going 1-4 with a 3.83 ERA. In 54 innings he walked 24, fanned 77 and has a 1.19 WHIP. He was the club's third-round pick in 2017.

In February the Orioles acquired right-hander David Lebron for international bonus slots. Now he's an All-Star. For the Keys he is 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 11 games, eight starts. Over 45 2/3 innings he has walked 20 and fanned 59.

Steven Klimek, the Orioles' round 33 pick in 2015, has gone 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA in 17 games out of the Frederick bullpen. Over 32 2/3 innings he has walked 18 and struck out 31 batters.

Infielder Willy Yahn made the New York-Penn League All-Star game last year and is on the North roster. For the Keys this season he's hit .296/.314/.426 with 13 doubles, five homers and 35 RBIs. He was drafted in round 25 in 2017.

Outfielder Zach Jarrett has hit .267/.325/.387 with 12 doubles, five homers and 23 RBIs. The 24-year-old Jarrett was selected in round 28 by the Orioles in 2017.

Outfielder Cole Billingsley, a 19th-round pick in 2016, will play for the North squad. He's hit .310/.384/.373 with 10 doubles, seven steals, 26 runs and eight RBIs.

Infielder Sean Miller, a Crofton, Md. native, was recently added to the All-Star roster. In 33 games he's batting .280/.307/.402. The Orioles signed him to a minor league contract in December. Also added was lefty reliever Luis Perez. He is 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA along with 20 walks and 59 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings. The Orioles acquired him in June 2016.

Keys manager Ryan Minor will manage the Carolina League North squad, and he will be assisted by Frederick pitching coach Justin Lord, hitting coach Bobby Rose, development coach Adam Bleday and trainer Marty Brinker.

The Single-A South Atlantic League will host its All-Star game tomorrow night at 7:35 p.m. in Charleston, West Virginia. The first-half Northern Division champion Delmarva Shorebirds will send eight players to the game, most of any team in the league. Pitchers Grayson Rodriguez, Drew Rom, Ofelky Peralta, and Zach Matson will join catcher Daniel Fajardo, shortstop Adam Hall, outfielder Doran Turchin, and designated hitter Seamus Curran are on the Northern Division team for the Sally League's 60th annual midsummer classic.

Hall, who is batting .321/.398/.420 has missed the last several Shorebirds games while on the inactive list. He is not hurt and will be returning to game action when the second half starts on Thursday.

Short season single-A Aberdeen has added catcher Jordan Cannon, the Orioles' 2019 10th round pick out of Sam Houston State. That makes four 2019 draftees on the current IronBirds roster.

Diaz honored: Double-A Bowie outfielder Yusniel Diaz is the latest Eastern League Player of the Week. The 22-year-old batted .364 (8-for-22) with two doubles, three home runs, 12 RBIs, seven runs scored, four walks, and an .864 slugging percentage in six games for the Baysox last week. Diaz drove in at least one run in all six games he played and had multiple hits in three of those games. He also hit a home run in three straight games from June 12-14.
