Game 101 lineups: Nats at Brewers

MILWAUKEE - Right fielder Adam Eaton had one of his best offensive games this season Tuesday. He went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, a homer and tied a season high with three RBIs. His three-run shot in the second off of Brewers starter Junior Guerra opened up a 4-0 Nationals lead.

It was his first home run since the two homers he hit back in the opening series of the season at Cincinnati.

So does he feel like he is all the way back from the injuries that forced him to miss 52 games this season and most of 2017?

Not quite yet, Easton said. This is new territory for him. But he is close.

"It's just weird because I've never had a lot of time off like I had the last year and a half," Eaton said. "And then to ramp up and then slow down again and ramp back up. So I'm kind of still feeling for things. What I'm trying to say is, I don't want to be getting lucky and not put in good work. I want to feel good and get good results. I don't really want to feel OK and get good results, if that makes sense."

Eaton doesn't want to use the term "getting into a groove." But he does feel like he is close to locking in an approach that worked in seasons past when he was on. The home run swing was a no-doubter and the single was on target.

"I will just continue to try to get as many at-bats as I can and really try to get in rhythm of things," Eaton said. "When you get in a rhythm of things, (you) grind at-bats a little more effectively and efficiently. Knowing the pitchers and whatnot. So there's still a long way to go in my opinion but it's good to get results."

The Nationals look to salvage one game of the series today with right-hander Tanner Roark (3-12, 4.87 ERA) on the hill. Roark has worked with reliever Brandon Kintzler on adjusting his mechanics to get more leverage from his lower half when delivering his sinker.

Roark has allowed only one earned run in his last two starts over 14 innings at Miller Park for a 0.64 ERA with 17 strikeouts and two walks.

The Brewers counter with right-hander Freddy Peralta (4-1, 2.65 ERA).

The last time the Nats were swept in a three-game series on the road was at Toronto from June 15-17. The Brewers' last three-game sweep of an opponent at home was against the Twins from July 2-4.
