Game 28 lineups: Diamondbacks at Nats

The Nationals are seeking their fourth home series victory today on Weather Day at Nats Park. National League Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer faces his former club, looking for his fourth win of the season. He arrives 3-2 with a 2.94 ERA. Scherzer pitched in Arizona in 2008-09.

Right-hander Braden Shipley makes his first start of 2017 for the Diamondbacks, called up from the minors. He is 4-5 with a 5.27 ERA in 11 career starts (13 games). Shipley is a 2013 first-round selection out of Nevada-Reno.

Ryan Zimmerman continues his hot April into May. He has a current 10-game hitting streak and a career-high six multi-hit games in a row after going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the Nationals' series-tying 2-1 win last night. The multi-hit run is tied for third-longest in Nationals history (2005-present).

Right-hander Jacob Turner saved the day for the Nationals, notching the victory with four scoreless innings after starter Gio Gonzalez finished five innings, but surrendered seven walks.

Chris Owings hit his fifth homer for the Diamondbacks, which is already one off his career high (six in 91 games in 2014). Owings' single in the fourth inning made it his 10th multi-hit game of the season.

The Nationals head to Philadelphia tonight to begin a five-game road trip, with three against the Phillies. The Nats are only 8-6 at home.

Jose Lobaton starts at catcher again for the Nationals. No word as to why Matt Wieters is off. Wieters was in the clubhouse prior to the game.
