BALTIMORE - There have been times over the years when the Battle of the Beltways brought out a lot of excitement in both towns. It might be a slightly different situation this year, especially over the next two nights, as the worst-in-baseball Orioles host the resurgent Nationals for a quick, two-game interleague series.
The Nats come to Camden Yards in the middle of a critical road trip that began in Philadelphia and wraps up in Atlanta. They can't overlook these next two nights, though, especially given the pitching situation. It's Austin Voth tonight, and a soon-to-be-named starter Wednesday (Erick Fedde appears to be the odds-on favorite).
Voth makes his fourth start of the season. He was great in his first outing against the Braves, less so in his last two against the Tigers and Royals. The right-hander hasn't taken a decision in any of those starts, but the Nationals are 0-3 as a team. They need to reverse that trend tonight.
A handful of Nats batters have faced Asher Wojciechowski before: Ryan Zimmerman is 0-for-3, Yan Gomes is 1-for-2 with a double and Anthony Rendon has drawn walks in both of his plate appearances.
