Garza over Millwood as Rays top O's, 4-1

No one got hit. But the Orioles didn't get many hits either, off Matt Garza. This time they didn't hit four homers off him like they did back on July 20th. Garza gave up just one run and five hits over 5 2/3 pitching Tampa Bay to a 4-1 win over the Orioles in the opener of the weekend series.

Garza, now 14-7, 3.46, walked and fanned three, throwing 98 pitches. He has allowed one earned run or less in six of his past eight starts. Rafael Soriano got the final three outs for his Major League-leading 41st save. Garza is 3-0, 3.21 in four starts this year vs. the O's and 9-1, 3.03 in 12 career starts vs. Baltimore. Kevin Millwood falls to 3-15, 5.38. It's his most losses ever, topping the 14 he had in 2007 with Texas. Millwood gave up four runs over 5 2/3, allowing two each in the 3rd and 4th. Four different players drove in runs for the Rays, who are now 10-3 vs. the Orioles. Tampa improves the best road record in the Majors to 40-25 with this win. The Rays are 40-15 vs. the Orioles since August 28, 2007. The only O's run scored when Ty Wigginton doubled in the 4th and later came in on Felix Pie's sac fly. The O's have lost three in a row to fall to 1-3 on the homestand and 17-13 with Buck Showalter as manager.
