Giants issue statement regarding incident involving Jones

Less than 24 hours after Orioles center fielder Adam Jones revealed on Twitter that a fan at AT&T Park threw a banana at him in the ninth inning of yesterday's game, the San Francisco Giants have issued a statement that includes an apology and an update on the investigation. Thus far, the Giants have not been able to identify the person responsible. We were extremely disappointed to learn about the incident involving Adam Jones at AT&T Park yesterday. The Giants have a zero tolerance policy against this type of behavior, which results in immediate ejection from the ballpark. While we have been investigating the matter since we learned of the situation, unfortunately we have been unable to identify the person responsible. We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to Adam and the entire Orioles organization for this unfortunate incident. The inappropriate actions of this individual in no way reflect the values of our organization and our fans. You can click here to read Jones' reaction to the incident. My guess is that Jones puts the incident behind him and doesn't allow the actions of one ignorant fan to dictate how he lives or how he views a city and organization. In minor league news, Cuban outfielder Dariel Alvarez is 2-for-3 with a triple and home run in his first professional game with the Gulf Coast League Orioles. The Orioles signed Alvarez last month for $800,000.
