Gonzalez goes five scoreless, Jones soaks up the sun (O's win 3-0)

Miguel Gonzalez didn't have a clean inning today. He also didn't give up a run. Gonzalez allowed three hits, walked three and struck out six over five scoreless innings for the Orioles, who continue to lead the Rays 3-0 at Camden Yards. He came out of the game only because of his pitch count, which stood at 98. That's what happens when the opponent puts a runner on base in each inning. Gonzalez has allowed three runs over 11 innings in his last two starts after surrendering seven runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings in Detroit. Zach Britton retired the Rays in order in the sixth. He's allowed two hits in 9 1/3 scoreless innings this season. No one is warming in the Orioles' bullpen, so Britton will return for the seventh. Adam Jones has a bunt single that loaded the bases and a swinging bunt single with the bases loaded that drove in a run. Your typical production from a designated hitter. Before today, Jones was a career .300 hitter in day games. It's cold here, but the sun is shining. Update: Zach Britton tossed three scoreless innings, raising his total to 11 1/3 this season, and Tommy Hunter closed out a 3-0 victory over the Rays before 22,611 at Camden Yards. The Orioles win the abbreviated series and are 7-7. No game on Thursday. This is the Orioles' first shutout since Sept. 6, 2013 versus the White Sox. Briton threw 42 pitches in his longest outing of the season. Hunter is 4-for-5 in save chances. He hadn't pitched since surrendering a two-out, game-tying home run to Toronto's Colby Rasmus on April 12.
