Hammel having hard time (Tolleson ties game, Hammel done)

Jason Hammel hasn't walked more than three batters in his first 11 starts. He matched that total today after 1 2/3 innings. Hammel has allowed three runs and five hits, walked three, struck out one and hit a batter in two innings. He's already thrown 51 pitches, including 27 for strikes. The Phillies loaded the bases in the first inning without scoring. They loaded the bases twice in the second and received a two-run single by Hunter Pence on a ground ball that scooted up the middle. Jim Thome grounded an RBI single into left field to give Philadelphia a 3-1 lead. The Orioles took a 1-0 lead in the first on consecutive two-out singles by Adam Jones, Matt Wieters and Ronny Paulino. So, that's why Paulino is batting fifth today. He's now 3-for-6 lifetime against left-hander Cliff Lee. Jones is 3-for-3 with a walk-off home run since that 0-for-18 slump. Down on the farm, Zach Britton has allowed two runs and five hits in four innings in Triple-A Norfolk's game against Buffalo. Brian Roberts is 0-for-3. Update: The Phillies loaded the bases again in the fourth inning and scored on a wild pitch. They lead, 4-1, as we head to the bottom of the fourth. Hammel has allowed six hits, walked five batters, thrown a wild pitch and hit a batter. He's up to 88 pitches. Britton is done after 4 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs and seven hits, walked two, struck out two and threw a wild pitch. He threw 83 pitches, 50 for strikes. That's not good enough to get back in the majors. Update II: Steve Tolleson just belted a three-run homer with two outs in the fourth inning to tie the game. Tolleson has two home runs this year, three in his major league career. Update III: Hammel retired the last seven batters he faced. He allowed four runs and six hits in six innings, with five walks, four strikeouts, one wild pitch and one hit batter. He threw 115 pitches, 68 for strikes. Today's attendance: 45,267, the second sellout in two days and the third this season. Brian Roberts went 0-for-4 today in Norfolk's 4-2 loss to Buffalo.
