Haren off to slow start (Nats fall 7-0)

The Nationals looking to make some noise this weekend in Miami. To do that, it's important for a good start at Marlins Park. So far, it hasn't been a good start for Dan Haren. The Marlins scored three in the first inning and lead 3-0. Giancarlo Stanton started the scoring with a two-run single and Placido Polanco followed with a sacrifice fly to center field, plating Christian Yelich. Haren has thrown 22 pitches, 13 for strikes. But he's behind early. The right-hander has shown a propensity this season for yielding a lead early, then settling down and keeping the Nats in the game. He'll need to do that tonight. Update: Logan Morrison cranked a two-run shot in the third inning off Haren, and Marlins lead 5-0. Update II: Haren lasted three innings, allowed six hits and five runs, two walks, five strikeout and a homer. This was really a very disappointing outing against a less than vaunted Marlins lineup in an almost must-win situation. Zach Walters' pinch-hit swinging infield single in the top of the sixth was the first hit for the Nationals off of Marlins rookie Jose Fernandez. Update III: The Nationals were shut out 7-0 in Miami, managing only two hits. Fernandez (11-6) notched the win, with seven innings, allowing just one hit, no runs, walking two and striking out nine. Haren took the loss and is 8-13. The Nationals used six pitchers, five after Haren lasted just three innings.
