Harrisburg eliminated by Trenton in Double-A finals, but team stacked with talent

Trenton Thunder scored five runs in the third inning in a 11-4 win over the Harrisburg Senators at Metro Bank Park. The Thunder clinched the Eastern League Championship three games to none. Nathan Karns pitched just 2 2/3 innings, allowing a run-scoring triple by Tyler Austin in the third. Seven batters reached in a row to highlight Trenton's big inning. Justin Bloxom had an RBI single and Jeff Howell added a two-run single. Harrisburg struggled with runners in scoring position, going 3-for-16 and leaving 13 men on base. Ricky Hague had three hits Billy Burns, Brian Goodwin, Sean Nicol, and Jason Martinson delivered two hits apiece. It still was an incredible season for the Senators, and a good sign that the talent the organization has built up the last couple of years is starting to mature. A lot of these guys moved up from Single-A Hagerstown to Single-A Potomac and stayed together, building a bond that builds a great team. The starting pitching continues to be a strong point of the organization: A.J. Cole, Karns. Blake Treinen, Taylor Jordan, Taylor Hill, Robbie Ray and others. Bloxom, Steven Souza Jr., Hague, Goodwin, Destin Hood, Jerad Head, Jimmy Von Ostrand, Josh Johnson and others consistently contributed to a potent offense. Aaron Barrett, Tyler Herron, Matt Swynenberg, Neil Holland, Pat McCoy, Matt Grace, Ian Krol, Ryan Perry, Richie Mirowski and others did outstanding work in relief. There is a lot of strong talent in the Nationals' Double-A contingent and that bodes well for the future as they build towards D.C.
