Head games?

Breaking news: Oakland pitcher Brett Anderson won't go 30-0 this season. A few readers of this blog saw that I picked against Anderson and suggested that I have my head examined. The guy was bound to lose at least one game. He's one of the top young left-handers in baseball, but he's also human. His spring training physical confirmed it. Next prediction: Brian Matusz goes 29-1 this season. Interesting decision by manager Dave Trembley to bring Jim Johnson into the game in the eighth inning. Did Trembley figure that Johnson would be more relaxed coming out of the bullpen in the eighth for the six-out save? That only works if Johnson is economical with his pitches in the eighth. He won't be available tomorrow night, but we'll cross that save bridge when we get to it. Ty Wigginton's two-run homer in the ninth provided a nice cushion for Johnson and gave the third baseman 10 RBIs in his last six games. I felt like I was in the Bizarro World, with Oakland committing the errors and baserunning blunders. It wasn't until Adam Jones lost a fly ball in the sun that things felt normal again. Another outstanding start for Brian Matusz, who gets the much-deserved win. My only concern was the lack of one-pitch ground balls that would have kept his pitch count down. Eight strikeouts are nice, but give me a few quick innings so he can stick around longer. Yeah, I know, I'm nit-picking here. Just be satisfied with victory No. 2 for the Orioles and rest up for tomorrow night.
