Impressive stat: O's are 3-0 this year in games started by 2012 Cy Young winners

Is there any team in baseball that has played three games already this season against 2012 Cy Young Award winners? The Orioles have and they are a very impressive 3-0 in those games, scoring 21 combined runs. On opening night, April 2, they faced David Price and beat the Rays 7-4. On April 18, they faced Price again and beat the Rays 10-6 in 10 innings. Last night they faced R.A. Dickey and beat the Blue Jays 4-3. Even though they didn't pin a loss on Price's record, they did hand Dickey a loss last night. So 3-0 in games started by Price and Dickey is rather impressive. Here are other impressive stats involving those two pitchers: Last year, Price started three times and Dickey once against the Orioles. They went a combined 3-0 with an ERA of 0.29 in those games. Over a combined 31 1/3 innings, the Orioles got just 14 hits and one run against the duo, which combined for seven walks and 33 strikeouts. This year, the pair is 0-1 with an ERA of 5.50 against the Orioles. Over 18 innings, they have combined to allow 21 hits and 11 runs (all earned) against the Orioles with seven walks and 14 strikeouts. O's batters are hitting .309 at 21-for-68 against Price and Dickey this season with eight doubles and two homers. The Orioles have also now won six straight games decided by one or two runs after starting the year 0-4 in those contests. A 12-8 start, playing .600 ball, is not bad and that is a 96-win pace right now for the 2013 Orioles, who are also 9-5 in games against AL East teams. Some things have certainly come together for the team during a good 6-2 homestand. But winning three games in three tries in games started by last year's Cy Young winners might be the most impressive stat of all.
