Jones hustles, Davis homers, Hammel deals

The Orioles are leading, 2-0, in the bottom of the fifth, and there's a lot to like about this game. Adam Jones made another hard slide into second base, this time in the fourth inning while trying to break up a double play on Matt Wieters grounder after his leadoff walk. Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar took exception to the slide, gesturing to second base umpire Todd Tichenor and barking at Jones. Jones appeared to return the volley. He wasn't backing down. Both runs have scored on home runs, including Chris Davis' opposite-field shot in the bottom of the fourth inning. Davis had three hits in his last 24 at-bats before facing Toronto starter Kyle Drabek in the fourth. Jason Hammel is blanking the Jays on two hits through five innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts. He fanned 10 over six innings in his last start in Chicago. Hammel keeps saying he figured things out toward the end of last season. It sure looks that way. Mark Reynolds broke an 0-for-17 slump with an infield hit in the fifth. He struck out in the second - his 23rd in 49 at-bats.
