For the first time since 2005, the Orioles will have more than one representative at the All-Star Game.
Their streak remains of not having a player voted in - seven years and counting - but center fielder Adam Jones, closer Jim Johnson and catcher Matt Wieters were selected and will represent the Orioles in Kansas City on July 10.
A fourth Oriole could join his teammates as a Final Vote candidate, so it's possible that the Orioles will have another representative.
UPDATE: Jason Hammel is a Final Vote candidate. He's 8-3 with a 3.29 ERA and leads the Orioles in victories. Hammel tied his career high by allowing eight runs in his last start against the Angels, which hurt his chances, but he's still got a shot at joining his teammates in Kansas City.
Hammel will compete against Jonathan Broxton, Yu Darvish, Ernesto Frieri and Jake Peavy. Voting ends July 5 at 4 p.m. You can vote here.
Jones has been chosen for the second time. His sacrifice fly in 2009 produced the winning run for the American League.
Jones, selected as Most Valuable Oriole last year, is batting .300/.343/.554 with 17 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs and 41 RBIs. He ranked fifth in votes on Monday, dropping behind the Rangers' Nelson Cruz, when Major League Baseball released the totals for the last time.
Johnson is new to the All-Star Game. He's 23-for-24 in save opportunities after being 21-for-37 over his first six major league seasons, and he's posted a 1.30 ERA in 34 games. Johnson, who took over closer duties from Kevin Gregg last September, has allowed 18 hits, walked nine and struck out 22 in 34 2/3 innings.
Wieters also represented the Orioles last summer and ranked third in voting on Monday, trailing the Rangers' Mike Napoli and Twins Joe Mauer. He's batting .249/.331/.440 with 14 doubles, 11 homers and 38 RBIs.
Wieters is the first Oriole selected in consecutive seasons since shortstop Miguel Tejada from 2004-2006.
Another worthy candidate, reliever Pedro Strop, has posted a 1.25 ERA that ranks fourth among AL relievers, and a 0.69 ERA in his last 25 games since April 24, but he was left off the team.
J.J. Hardy ranked third among shortstops on Monday. Robert Andino ranked fifth among second basemen.
