Kevin Gausman gets the win, Adam Jones drives in two as O's top Boston

In a matchup of former top Orioles pitching prospects tonight, Kevin Gausman was just a little better than Eduardo Rodriguez. The Orioles used two RBIs by Adam Jones to beat Rodriguez and Boston 2-0 at Camden Yards.

The Orioles are 10-4 against Boston and clinched the season series for the fourth year in a row. That is the first time the Orioles have done that since 1964-67. The Orioles improved to 70-73 with their fifth win in six games. They are 3-1 on this homestand and 41-28 at home for the season.

Gausman pitched six scoreless innings allowing just two singles - both in the fourth inning. He walked four and fanned seven. He threw 109 pitches, 67 for strikes. Gausman stranded two runners in a 29-pitch first inning. He pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fourth when Rusney Castillo lined out and Blake Swihart flied out to end the frame.

The Orioles took a 1-0 lead in the last of the first with the help of an error. Nolan Reimold led off with a single and Manny Machado walked. With one out and runners on the corners, second baseman Josh Rutledge booted Adam Jones' grounder and the O's led 1-0.

In the seventh, Chris Davis singled with two outs and scored on Jones' double for a 2-0 lead. Jones has nine RBIs his past three games and 78 on the year. The Orioles went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position tonight and left 10 runners on base. Boston went 1-for-7 with RISP.

Rodriguez went 5 1/3 innings and gave up five hits and one run to fall to 9-6 with an ERA of 3.94. He allowed two earned runs or less for the 14th time in 19 starts.

In the second game of this series on Tuesday night, Ubaldo Jimenez (11-9, 4.22 ERA) pitches against right-hander Joe Kelly (10-6, 4.70 ERA).
