Kevin Gregg gives up two in the ninth as Jays stun Orioles (Frederick wins)

What a way for the Orioles to end a run of 21 2/3 straight scoreless innings by their bullpen. Kevin Gregg suffered his seventh blown save of the year as Toronto scored twice in the last of the ninth to win 5-4. After Clay Rapada began the last of the ninth with a strikeout, Gregg came on and got a second strikeout. There were two outs and none on with a 4-3 lead when Gregg unraveled.

He then gave up a walk, single and hit batter to load the bases. He uncorked a wild pitch to tie the game 4-4 and then J.P. Arencibia singled to left to win it for the Jays in walk-off fashion as they hand the O's a bitter loss. Even though they started a lineup with six players that spent significant time in the minors this year, and their starter failed to clear three innings, the Orioles still should have won this game. Had they gotten the victory, the Orioles would have taken their first series victory of the year against the Jays and their first at Toronto since June 6-8, 2008. Vlad Guerrero doubled in the tie-breaking run for the Orioles, who took a 4-3 lead in the eighth. Five pitchers out of the bullpen today combined for six scoreless innings before Gregg lost it in the ninth. Chris Davis added two hits and two RBIs for the Orioles. In his last two games, he is 5-for-7 with two doubles and three RBIs. Matt Angle had two hits for his first-career multi-hit game. Pedro Florimon made his major league debut and started at shortstop, going 0-for-3 with a sac bunt and an error. The Orioles' three-game win streak ends as they fall to 58-86. In Sunday afternoon's series finale, Tommy Hunter (3-3, 5.28) pitches for the Orioles against right-hander Dustin McGowan (0-0, 6.75). Hunter is 1-2 with an ERA of 6.95 in seven career games against the Blue Jays. In the minors Saturday night, Frederick beat Potomac 5-1 to take a two games to one lead in the best-of-five series. The Keys need one more win to advance to the Carolina League championship series. Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Aaron Baker was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Jonathan Schoop went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. Starting pitcher Scott Copeland got the win, allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings and Ryan Berry pitched the final two innings. Frederick can win the series with a victory in game four Sunday afternoon at 1:05 at Potomac. If a fifth and deciding game is needed, Frederick will host that game Monday night at Harry Grove Stadium.
