Machado says he feels "fine" this morning

Orioles prospect Manny Machado said he feels "fine" this morning and is hopeful that he can be back in the Single-A Delmarva lineup in a few days. He'll know more later today, in a few hours, when a doctor takes a closer look at his left knee. Machado said he was not sure if he would undergo an MRI. Machado injured the knee in the first inning last night at Asheville. He fell to the ground when tagging up and trying to advance from second to third base. He was helped off the field. "Oh, yeah," he said when asked if he was scared when the injury occurred. "My leg just got caught. It buckled." When asked if he thinks he can return in just a few days he said, "Hopefully, yeah." He said he had ice on the knee last night, but that he was not on crutches at any point. Machado is batting .333 through 25 games with six doubles, two triples, five homers and 21 RBIs. He has an on-base percentage of .450, a slugging percentage of .611 and an OPS of 1.062. Over his previous nine games, Machado had hit .438 (14-for-32) with five homers and 13 RBIs and six multi-hit contests. He entered last night's game tied for second in the South Atlantic League with 19 walks and tied for fifth in RBIs. Machado said the key to his good start at the plate was "being disciplined up there and doing the little things." Now O's fans wait and hope that this injury turns out to be a little thing as well.
