Machado slips to third place in All-Star Game voting

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has dropped to third place behind the Twins' Miguel Sanó and the Indians' José Ramírez in the latest round of American League All-Star Game balloting.

Machado-Throws-Gray-Sidebar.jpgSanó has received 638,952 votes to put him ahead of Ramírez (541,040) and Machado (520,116). Machado led Sanó by 5,462 votes last week.

Machado is trying to join Hall of Famers Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr. as the only Orioles third basemen to earn multiple fan-elected starts. Machado received the honor last summer.

Catcher Welington Castillo remains in second place among AL catchers with 543,146 votes. He trails the Royals' Salvador Perez, who's received 692,867 votes.

Adam Jones has slipped from seventh to 12th among outfielders with 327,983 votes. The top three are the Yankees' Aaron Judge with 1,251,543, the Angels' Mike Trout with 1,155,356 and the Indians' Michael Brantley with 554,620.

Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop dropped out of the top five. He was fifth last week.
