O's president Andy MacPhail was asked about his manager Dave Trembley just a few minutes ago near the Orioles dugout.
His comments today reflected his recent public comments about his skipper.
"Same thing I've told everybody. Our complete energy and focus is on doing the things we can to improve the situation on the field. Part of that is going to be getting more timely hitting and wrapping up the games at the end. That needs the most improvement at the present time.
"We talk all the time. He's aware of what our thinking is and what we are trying to do. We're listening to him in terms of what he thinks he needs. We're telling him what our minor league guys are telling us are our best options. We talk daily."
MacPhail cited the hitting and bullpen as the biggest factors for a 3-16 start, but how does he feel about things like intangibles, mental errors and hustle his team is showing or not showing?
"Anytime you make an error on those accounts, it's magnified to a greater degree because of the issues we are going through. There is always room for improvement in a variety of areas."

The O's today added righty Alfredo Simon to the roster, sending Kam Mickolio back to Triple-A.
In order to make room for Simon on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated LHP Wilfrido Perez for assignment. Perez, 25, was 0-1 with three saves and a 10.80 ERA (5.0IP, 6ER), five walks and five strikeouts in five games with Double-A Bowie.
"It's never an easy thing to take someone off the roster," MacPhail said of the move with Perez. "We've managed that reasonably well in that people we've taken off have gotten through (waivers). It gets tougher the deeper you get into it.
"We liked the spring he had, but he scuffled in season and he was probably the first guy off the list, not that we don't think he can be productive at sometime.
"It's complicated a little by the fact we claimed (Pedro) Viola. But we made the determination that Viola had more upside than Wilfrido."
MacPhail said he was uncertain if Perez could go through waivers unclaimed and remain with the team.
MacPhail was asked if the addition of Simon was the first of other moves coming to help the bullpen.
"We'll see. You've got a couple of guys on the DL, so just bringing them back could precipitate more moves."
MacPhail would not confirm that Brad Bergesen will return to the O's to make Saturday's start but sounded as if that was the plan.
"We have a pretty good idea how we are going to approach that. I don't see anything impacting that. We are pretty consistent with the approach we will take."
