Manny Machado, Nolan Reimold combine for six RBIs as O's beat New York

Just minutes after the New York Yankees tied the score tonight in the top of the sixth, the resurgent Orioles offense untied it in the bottom of the inning. And then added onto that lead.

Batting first and second, Manny Machado and Nolan Reimold combined to go 5-for-10 with two homers, a triple, three runs and six RBIs as the Orioles beat the Yankees 9-4 in front of 38,909 at Camden Yards.

The Orioles won their sixth in a row and won for the eighth time in nine games to improve 31-30 and move within two games of New York. The Orioles are 16-8 against New York since June 21 of last year and moved over .500 tonight for the first time since May 3, when they were 12-11.

With tonight's victory, O's manager Buck Showalter moves into sole possesion of third place on the club's all-time managerial wins list with 408, one more than Hank Bauer.

Reimold hit two homers in 175 at-bats at Triple-A Norfolk and this was No. 2 in his 11th at-bat since his callup to the Orioles.

Machado's two-run homer in the fifth off CC Sabathia, his 11th, made it a 4-2 lead. Machado has hit five homers in his past 13 games.

But an Alex Rodriguez two-run homer off Bud Norris tied it at 4-4 in the sixth. The homer put Rodriguez at 2,001 RBIs, as he joins Hank Aaron as the only players with 2,000 RBIs since it became an official statistic in 1920.

The Orioles then quickly rallied to regain the lead against reliever Chris Martin. Matt Wieters doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on J.J. Hardy's single to center to break the tie and Machado later added a two-run single for a 7-4 edge. The O's capped the scoring with two runs in the seventh on David Lough's pinch-hit homer and a Steve Pearce RBI double.

Machado went 3-for-5 with four RBIs to tie his career high for the fifth time. He drove in four earlier this year on April 23. Machado is batting .316 over his last 48 games.

Norris, making his second start since coming off the DL, retired 11 in a row heading into the sixth but left four batters after Rodriguez's game-tying homer. Chaz Roe got Chris Young to fly out with the bases loaded and end the threat to keep the game tied 4-4. Roe pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth to get the win and is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.17 in 10 O's appearances.

Of the Orioles' 15 hits, seven went for extra bases, with three doubles, a triple and three homers. The Orioles have scored 20 runs in this series, 31 runs the last four games and 45 runs over their last eight games. They've hit seven homers the past three games.

They go for a three-game sweep and seven-game winning streak on Sunday afternoon when Mike Wright (2-1, 2.96 ERA) is expected to start for the Orioles against right-hander Adam Warren (4-4, 3.64 ERA).
