Maryland Lottery Contestant of the Game won huge when O's broke home run record

When the Orioles shattered their previous home run record by hitting eight home runs on June 16, O's fans rejoiced while Maryland Lottery Contestant of the Game Kevin Hollis cheered louder and louder for each and every home run.

Hollis, 28, is an Eastern Shore resident and was chosen as the Contestant of the Game after entering non-winning Baseball Bucks scratch-offs into his My Lottery Rewards account. Just for being selected, he won $500. And then the real fun started!

For each homer, the Maryland Lottery Contestant of the game wins an additional $500. When all the longballs landed and the O's walked away with a 19-3 victory over the Phillies, Hollis had won $4,500, the most ever awarded to a Contestant of the Game.

"I was just hoping for one home run," Hollis told the Maryland Lottery. "When I sat down with my friend to watch the game and saw the leadoff hitter hit the ball out of the park, I couldn't believe it. Then, they hit seven more. It was an incredible game."

In addition to his record-breaking prize, the retailer who sold this Baseball Bucks ticket to Kevin, (High's in Easton, Md.) received $1,125.

Do you want to win big like Hollis? Here's your chance! The $5 Baseball Bucks scratch-off has two $50,000 prizes remaining. In addition, like Hollis, you can enter non-winning tickets at mdlottery.com/baseball for the chance to be selected as a Contestant of the Game. One contestant will be selected for every regular season O's game. The remaining three drawings will take place on July 14, August 11 and September 1.
