Miley vs. Stroman tonight in Toronto

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Kevin Gausman's scoreless outing last night in Toronto snapped a streak of 45 consecutive games in which an Orioles starting pitcher allowed a run. The only team with a longer streak this season was the Phillies, whose starters permitted at least one run in 58 straight games from April 10-June 14.

Wade Miley could use similar results tonight.

Miley has allowed 19 earned runs (20 total) and 28 hits in his last four starts covering 15 2/3 innings. He's also walked 10 batters.

The difficult stretch has raised his ERA from 2.82 to 4.48.

Keeping the pitch count at a reasonable level has proven to be a big challenge for Miley. He ranks second in the majors in pitches thrown per inning with 19.0, trailing only Gausman with 19.1. He ranks third in pitches thrown per batter with 4.18, trailing the Indians' Trevor Bauer (4.30) and the Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz (4.26).

Left-handers are batting .171 against Miley this season and right-handers are hitting .290.

Miley has made two starts against the Blue Jays this season and allowed three earned runs (six total) in 13 innings. He gave up three runs in six innings, with no walks and eight strikeouts, in an April 14 game at Rogers Centre.

In eight career starts against the Jays, Miley has gone 2-5 with a 4.57 ERA and 1.456 WHIP over 45 1/3 innings. He's 2-2 with a 4.55 ERA and 1.416 WHIP in five starts at Rogers Centre over 29 2/3 innings.

Troy Tulowitzki is 10-for-25 (.400) with three doubles and a home run lifetime against Miley. Kendrys Morales is 8-for-19 (.421). Russell Martin is 5-for-26 (.192) with a double and 11 strikeouts.

Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman is 7-4 with a 3.69 ERA and 1.295 WHIP this season in 15 starts over 92 2/3 innings. He's 2-3 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.366 WHIP in seven career games (six starts) against the Orioles over 41 innings.

Mark Trumbo is 6-for-14 (.429) with two doubles and a home run against Stroman. Jonathan Schoop is 3-for-16 (.188) with a double.

Down on the farm, Triple-A Norfolk second baseman Johnny Giavotella leads the International League with 93 hits and his .310 average ranks fifth.

Over his last 11 games, Pedro Álvarez is batting .304 (14-for-46) with three home runs and 11 RBIs.

In 29 games since May 18th, catcher Chance Sisco is batting .312 (33-for-105) with nine doubles, two home runs, 12 RBIs and 12 multi-hit games.

Five players from Double-A Bowie were chosen to the Western Division All-Star team for the Eastern League's All-Star Game on July 12: Pitchers Tanner Scott and Lucas Long, and infielders Adrian Marin, Aderlin Rodriguez and Garabez Rosa.

The five selections are tied for the most in the league.

The Orioles and OriolesREACH will host a private fundraising event for Shannon's Fund on Friday, Aug. 18, from 5-6:30 p.m. prior to the 7:05 p.m. game against the Angels at Camden Yards.

A limited number of tickets are available for $50 for seating in Eutaw Street Reserve. The ticket includes a private pregame barbeque, an opportunity to watch batting practice from the Roof Deck bar, a visit from an Orioles player, photos with the Oriole Bird, two complimentary drink tickets and fireworks following the conclusion of the game.

Tickets for Center Field Roof Deck seating have already sold out. Additionally, a silent auction will be held near Gate E to benefit Shannon's Fund.

An endowment at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Shannon's Fund was established by the Orioles and OriolesREACH in 2008 to provide financial support to cancer patients and their families to assist with many expenses associated with the treatment process. The endowment was created in memory of Shannon Obaker, the club's former director of community outreach who bravely fought cancer for a year before she passed away in 2007 at 29.

In 2016, the Orioles helped to raise $30,000 for the initiative.

Fans interested in attending should visit www.orioles.com/shannonsfund to purchase tickets. The deadline is Aug. 11.
