More (and more) two-out trauma for Orioles

All six runs off Alfredo Simon last night came with two outs. Jeremy Guthrie got two outs in the bottom of the second inning today and served up a two-run homer to Sean Rodriguez, giving Tampa Bay an early 2-0 lead. Seriously, why does this keep happening? Guthrie hung a curveball and Rodriguez, the Rays' No. 9 hitter today, delivered his seventh homer of the season. Guthrie escaped a first-inning jam by retiring Matt Joyce on a fly ball and striking out Jose Lobaton on a 94-mph cutter. Guthrie hit Johnny Damon with one out and gave up a single to Evan Longoria. Longoria has two doubles and a single in three first-inning at-bats in this series. The Orioles' corner outfielders today, Kyle Hudson and Matt Angle, have combined for 11 home runs in 3,448 minor league at-bats - all by Angle. Hudson, who looks like he could be Mark Reynolds' little brother, is making his major league debut today. He grounded into a 5-4-3 double play in the third inning against Rays starter Jeremy Hellickson. First baseman Chris Davis is batting third today for Double-A Bowie, ahead of LJ Hoes, on his injury-rehab assignment. Joe Mahoney is playing left field. Davis will play third base tomorrow for the Baysox. Update: The Rays scored four more runs with two outs in the third. Jeremy Guthrie walked the bases loaded, and Evan Longoria came home on Mark Reynolds' 25th error of the season. Reynolds booted Brandon Guyer's chopper, trying unsuccessfully to play the short hop. Reid Brignac followed with a three-run double, giving the Rays four unearned runs in the inning and a 6-0 lead. Nothing good happens after a walk - or three of them. And nothing good seems to happen after the Orioles get two outs in an inning. I'll repeat that I like Reynolds at first base. Guthrie has thrown 75 pitches in three innings. Hellickson has thrown 28. The MASN2 cameras showed Guthrie body-slamming a water cooler in the dugout after the inning. At least he didn't jump off the top rope. Davis singled in his first at-bat at Bowie.
