It's pretty quiet around here today. Maybe you're still exhausted from last night's loss. Or maybe you also closed Seacrets. Left-hander Brian Matusz is pitching on five days rest tonight. His ERA is 3.38 in nine starts this year when getting that extra day, and 3.80 for his career. His ERA is 5.64 in 14 starts this season on four days rest. Leadoff hitters have posted a .357 average against Matusz this season, the highest average for any spot in the order. They're batting .351 against him since he broke into the majors. Matusz has held opponents to a .176 average in two-strike counts this season, and .177 in his career. The Orioles have scored four runs or more in only 12 of Matusz's 25 starts. They've scored four runs or more in 11 of Jeremy Guthrie's 26 starts, 11 of Kevin Millwood's 25 starts, 11 of Brad Bergesen's 21 starts and 11 of Jake Arrieta's 14 starts. At least they're consistent. Weird Corey Patterson stat: Patterson is batting .238 in his last 15 games. He has five two-hit games during that span, and he's gone hitless in the other 10 games.
