More notes from today's workout (and more)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Ubaldo Jimenez passed his physical, as expected, and the Orioles will announce his signing later today. The press conference will be held Thursday morning. The Orioles will make a corresponding 40-man roster move, which already has been decided. Outfielder Henry Urrutia participated in the last part of today's workout after his stomach issue subsided. "He made it out after everything got ... stopped," said manager Buck Showalter. "He's got to make sure he knows that if he's not going to be on the field, he needs to let somebody know. He got the wrath of Kirb (Wayne Kirby) today. But you know what hit me about that, instead of just flying off the handle about it? This is his first camp. We forget. Last time, he wasn't here. We'll give him a mulligan." yoon-paul-tall.jpgSuk-min Yoon will throw his first bullpen session on Thursday. He worked out with his teammates today and said it was "a lot of fun." "I can't wait to do it again tomorrow," he said through his agent, Tad Hun Yo. "The environment is so bright here compared to what I've experienced, but the amount of workout is far less than what I'm used to doing in Korea," he said. "I like it." Showalter gave Yoon some space today, but he'll watch the bullpen session. "I'm curious a little bit," Showalter said. "I've seen enough tape of him. You want to actually see him in person. This guy's been throwing. He thinks he's ready to go nine innings right now." Yoon told the Orioles that his favorite place to eat is In-N-Out Burger, which he won't find in Florida. "I asked him what's his favorite American food and he said, 'I love all of it,' " Showalter said. "I said, 'What's your least favorite?' And he couldn't come up with anything. "He said he was hungry and went back there and ate like a guy going to the electric chair." Miguel Gonzalez will throw a full bullpen session on Friday after making 25 tosses today to test his lower back. "I was able to throw some pitches off the mound and I'm happy with that," he said. "I'll be doing everything with the team now. Tomorrow, I'll just be playing catch and then Friday, another bullpen, and that's probably going to be 100 percent." Nick Markakis is noticeably bigger this spring after working out hard in the offseason. He's put on 15-20 lbs., according to Showalter. Markakis is healthy and a strong candidate to bat leadoff. "I think he's in a pretty good place in his life in a lot of ways," Showalter said. "Health, you can see the way he's moving around compared to the last couple springs when he was trying to not go too fast to make sure he's ready for opening day. "I think Nick is going to have a really good year. I do. I know you can tell he feels good about where he is physically. He's going to have a good year." Markakis got rid of most of his beard, but he's still sporting the curly hair. "Nick shaved this morning," Showalter said, "and he's got a three-day beard right now."
