Nate McLouth: "We know we have a good offense"

The Orioles are the third-highest scoring team in the American League, even if it hasn't looked like they are recently. The Orioles scored just 16 runs on their recent six-game road trip and added nine the last two nights in losses to Texas at Camden Yards. Right now, Chris Davis is 1-for-21, Brian Roberts is 2-for-22, Nolan Reimold is 3-for-14 and Adam Jones is 11-for-53. There are others with recent struggles, too. "It seems like when it happens (guys slump) it happens to multiple guys at one time," Nate McLouth said. "I don't know why that is, maybe it's not the case, but it sure feels like that. "We know we have a good offense. Sometimes it just doesn't happen for a week or so. This last week, it hasn't and it's been uncharacteristic of us as an offense up to this point of the season." McLouth has heard some of the call-in radio shows where the O's offense, or recent lack thereof, has been a hot topic in recent days. "Believe me, we wish we could hit every single day. We as players can't let one night affect the next and affect the next," he said. "From a fan's perspective, I can understand (their concerns). I like that they feel that way. They care and they want to see us smacking the ball around every night." Reporters often are asked questions like, "How is the mood in the clubhouse," when the team is struggling. Right now it's business as usual, McLouth said. "Honestly, there is no difference at all," he said. "That's maturity and having been through it before. It's not fun to not get the hits, but the pitchers, they make their money, too. One thing you don't want to do is start changing stuff. Do what's been working." McLouth was asked if focus can be a challenge at all with the All-Star break and several days off coming up for most of the players. "The last week or so before and the first week after the break are tough," he said. "You have those days off coming up and after the break you have to get back into it. That is certainly something you have to fight a little bit."
