Nationals honor Burns, Jordan and Renda with organizational awards

The Nationals announced that outfielder Billy Burns, starting pitcher Taylor Jordan and second baseman Tony Renda have won the organization's top awards. Billy Burns - Nationals minor league Player of the Year Burns was promoted to Double-A Harrisburg this season, showcasing his blurring speed out of the box. He spent the first 91 games of the season with high Single-A Potomac, then played 30 games for the Senators. Double-A Harrisburg was just eliminated in the Eastern League finals by Trenton. He has hit .315 in 121 total games this season, with 12 doubles, nine triples, 74 stolen bases, 72 walks and 37 RBIs between Potomac and Harrisburg. He is renowned throughout the league for his speed out of the batter's box and stealing 74 out of 81 attempts (.914). He had 12 hits in a five game span from August 24 through August 28. Taylor Jordan - Nationals minor league Pitcher of the Year Nationals fans are very familiar with the work of Jordan, who made nine major league starts between June 29 and August 16. Jordan went 1-3 with a 3.66 ERA in 51 and 2/3 innings. He earned his first major league win July 28 vs. the Mets in a 14-1 crushing. Jordan scattered five hits over six innings, allowing one run, one walk and striking out nine. It was an amazing run considering Jordan was one year removed from Tommy John surgery. Tony Renda - Inaugural Bob Boone Award winner The Bob Boone Award exemplifies a player that has demonstrated professionalism, leadership, loyalty, passion, selflessness, durability, makeup, intangibles and a tremendous work ethic. All the qualities that Boone displayed in his 20-plus years as a player and coach. Renda was all-everything for the low Single-A Hagerstown Suns this season.
