New items at Nats Park in 2015 centered around 10th anniversary celebration

The Nationals announced new concessions, menu items, enhanced spaces for fans called Club 24, a Baseball Americana exhibit, a new main clubhouse team store, promotional items, historic home run commemoration, theme nights, giveaways and much more during a media tour of Nationals Park on Wednesday.

Several of the newest enhancements are related to the 10th anniversary of baseball's return to D.C.

nats-park-NL-East-champ-sign.jpg"We've been planning for a really long time this celebration, really since the last pitch of last season," Nationals chief revenue and marketing officer Valerie Camillo said. "I think the things that we are most excited about are certainly the giveaways. We have some really creative giveaways that harken back to our history. For a Nationals fan, you really could've been here for each one of those moments and so it will be something that quickly comes to mind and brings a smile to peoples faces.

"I think we are excited about for the team on the field. We've got high expectations and we're having this big celebration and anniversary and it's nice to see those two things come together."

The promotional item giveaways related to the 10-year anniversary are available on "10-year Tuesdays." Six designated games will offer collectible keepsakes to the first 10,000 fans each game:

* April 21 - Stationery set
* May 5 - Nationals bottle stopper
* June 2 - Commemorative coin
* July 7 - Lapel pin
* Sept. 8 - Mini lineup card

All six items will fit in the collector's tin that will be given away on opening day.

There will also be five great moments in Nationals history bobbleheads, including Livan Hernandez (May 4), Ryan Zimmerman (June 4), Stephen Strasburg (July 5), Jayson Werth (Aug. 30) and Jordan Zimmermann (Sept. 25).

nats-park-2015-promos.jpgOn Sept. 3, the Nationals will give away Nesting Dolls to the first 20,000 fans and 100 lucky fans will find a golden ticket in their box that will entitle them to a limited edition 10-piece Nesting Doll, of which only 100 have been produced.

The theme nights include College Rivalry Day on June 24, featuring Virginia vs. Virginia Tech, and 3,000 college-colored tailgate chairs will be available. Star Wars Day will be July 19, when 25,000 R2-D2 can koozies will be distributed. June 18 will be Ladies Night, which will include a wine party theme and 3,000 wine glass lanyards will be available. Pet Day is Aug. 27, and will feature a player and pet calendar giveaway. Aug. 29 is '80's night with 3,000 Nationals Rubik's Cubes available.

New concessions include "Throwin' Cheese" in section 130, which will feature "decadent" macaroni and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. Near Section 132 is Captain's Cove, a new spacious bar that will offer the signature drink, the "Squeeze Play." The Virginia Biscuit Company arrives in May in section 113, and offers homemade Virginia biscuit sandwiches, including ham, fried chicken and chicken fried steak biscuits. The South Capitol Sushi stand has been relocated to section 217.

nats-park-sliders.jpgNew menu items include Sam Adams Nats Anniversary IPA, Enzo's Pizza, Leilani Shave Ice, build-your-own meal at the Chef's Table in the Norfolk Southern Club and Korean barbecue steak tacos and chicken meatball banh mi at the Red Porch.

Further, Chick-Fil-A has been added as a corporate sponsor. For every save recorded by the Nats this season, fans will receive a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich by showing their game ticket or season plan holder card.

On the club level, the Norfolk Southern Club now has an elevated mini-railroad train track, a train-themed scoreboard that will display in game updates using actual miniature trains to mark off balls, strikes and outs.

New championship boxes called Club 24, which were designed using a 1924 speakeasy aesthetic, are located on the first base line at the Jefferson Suite level. Each suite will feature its own private attendant and amenities include plush leather chairs embossed with the "Club 24" insignia, private lockers, private restrooms and high-end rotating menu selections. Each seat will offer electric outlets.

nats-park-championship-box-seat.jpgDue to the high demand for Club 24, K Street Boxes are also being constructed and will have identical amenities.

While on the club and suite level, you can also now order on a tablet from your suite and have your food brought to you. You can open a check on the tablet like you can at a restaurant, and close it out with your credit card on file.

The new Nationals main clubhouse team store will be moved across the center field plaza to a 7,000 square foot venue right behind the Red Porch restaurant. It will open in May. Under Armour is now a major sponsor.

"The team store is going to be one of the biggest in baseball and certainly even in all of sports," Camillo said. "We are thrilled. We are going to have a lot more merchandise for fans to choose from, a more roomy environment to shop. We are going to have a Nationals motorcycle in there. It will be a little bit of a destination as well as a place to shop."

The team store will feature a college corner where you can purchase a Curly W hat manufactured in colors specific to eight universities in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region: Virginia, Virginia Tech, George Washington, Georgetown, George Mason, Maryland, American and Navy.

Fans (and players) will also appreciate the new Kentucky bluegrass field that was put down after the NHL Winter Classic. It took workers from Feb. 1 to March 16 to lay the new sod, which came from a farm in Hammonton, N.J.

Six historic Nationals Park home runs are commemorated with red seats in the blue sections and a blue seat in the Red Porch area (Michael Morse on July 20, 2012).

nats-park-view-of-HR-seats.jpgTwo Bryce Harper homers and one Adam LaRoche third-level right field homer are honored with plaques on red painted seats in sections 234 and 236. The Ryan Zimmerman walk-off homer in 2008 is commemorated in section 100 with a blue seat. A plaque in the visitor's bullpen commemorates Jayson Werth's walk-off winner in Game 4 of the 2012 National League Division Series.

There is also a Baseball Americana exhibit, in partnership with the Library of Congress, depicting artwork and the history of baseball in D.C. as you walk in through the home plate gate.

A patriotic kiosk is located in section 138, selling patriotic and military-themed Nationals merchandise.

The sculptures of Washington Senators Frank Howard and Walter Johnson and Homestead Grays player Josh Gibson have been relocated to the timeline walk behind the home plate gate.
