New month, same Bergy?

Brad Bergesen might not have flipped the page on his calendar. Bergesen was 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA in five starts last month. In his most recent outing, he held the Angels to one run over eight innings, and it scored on a questionable balk call. He doesn't look like a pitcher who needs to be shut down. Tonight, Bergesen faces the Red Sox in September. He's hoping that change is good. Bergesen is 1-2 with a 3.71 ERA lifetime against the Red Sox, with three walks and 20 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings. J.D. Drew is 5-for-12 with a double, two homers and four RBIs against him. Adrian Beltre is 4-for-12 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Marco Scutaro is 5-for-13 with two doubles. I'm liking tonight's matchup. The Orioles get Daisuke Matsuzaka, who didn't make his last start because of a sore back. He's 3-2 with a 5.65 ERA in seven career games against the Orioles, with 25 walks and 38 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. In his first start of 2010, they reached him for six runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings on May 1. Brian Roberts is 7-for-15 with three doubles against Matsuzaka. Matt Wieters is 4-for-6 with a homer and three RBIs. Luke Scott's 3-for-10 with a double, homer and four RBIs. Nick Markakis is 2-for-15, but he'll be in the lineup. What about Adam Jones? He's got back issues of his own. We might be waiting on that lineup again. Corey Patterson is "dinged up," according to manager Buck Showalter, after slamming into the fence in Chicago. Maybe we'll find Felix Pie in center and Nolan Reimold in left. Showalter is one win shy of 900 for his career. It only seems like half of them have come since the Orioles hired him.
