Nolan Reimold rejoining the Orioles

The Orioles aren't done making additions to their roster this weekend.

I'm hearing that outfielder Nolan Reimold will have his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk. He's flying to Toronto this morning.

The Orioles already added Junior Lake, another right-handed hitting outfielder, but you never can have too many with the Blue Jays starting left-handers David Price today and Mark Buehrle on Sunday.

Reimold is 4-for-28 with a home run and 10 strikeouts against Price, but he's 6-for-15 with two doubles and a home run versus Buehrle, so he definitely should be in Sunday's lineup.

The required 10 days apparently have passed for him to return without replacing a player on the disabled list. I'm not certain when the clock started, but he's definitely going to Canada after playing last night in Norfolk, where he started in left field and batted cleanup in a 3-1 win over Gwinnett.

The Orioles signed Reimold, 31, to a minor league deal in February and purchased his contract on June 9. He appeared in 39 games for the Orioles and batted .227 (22-for-97) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs and eight RBIs.

Reimold could have refused the outright assignment, but he chose to stay in the organization.

The Orioles' 40-man roster will be full with the addition of Reimold.

Let's see if the offense stays on a roll this afternoon after scoring 17 runs over the past two games. Chris Davis has hit five home run in the last three games, including a pair last night in a 10-2 victory at Rogers Centre.

Davis is the first Oriole to register two 40-homer seasons.

The Orioles are trying to win their third game in a row for the first time since sweeping the Athletics in a four-game series on Aug. 14-17. They're 5 1/2 games behind for the second wild card and 11 out of first place. They remain three games ahead of the last-place Red Sox.
