O's agree with two more draft picks, set Hunter Harvey's pro debut

The Orioles' first-round draft pick, right-hander Hunter Harvey, is expected to make his pro debut July 19 pitching in the Gulf Coast League. Harvey has been at the club's facility in Sarasota taking part in a throwing program leading up to that debut. The O's third-round pick, lefty pitcher Stephen Tarpley, is expected to make his debut in the GCL on July 18. The Orioles have reached agreements with two more draft picks, coming to terms with their seventh-round selection, Youngstown State third baseman Drew Dosch, and their 23rd-round pick, right-hander Stefan Crichton out of TCU. Dosch agreed to an over-slot bonus of $218,500; the slot value for the 219th overall selection was $163,800. Crichton was signed for $50,000. Dosch and Crichton will have physicals this week and then the signings will become official. Dosch, who was a Cape Cod League All-Star last summer, is called one of the better pure college hitters in this draft class after batting .338 with three homers and 30 RBIs for Youngstown. Dosch suffered a torn ACL in a May 17 game and underwent surgery June 4, but is expected to make a full recovery and be 100 percent by spring training next season. Crichton went 4-3 with a 6.59 ERA at TCU with 31 strikeouts over 41 innings. With the agreement with Dosch, the Orioles have come to terms with all of their first 15 picks. Meanwhile the club is expected to promote pitcher Eddie Gamboa, who recently pitched a seven-inning no-hitter, from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk. His first start is set for Wednesday. In other news from the minor leagues, Jonathan Schoop, who is on the disabled list with a stress fracture in his lower back, is expected to begin a rehab assignment later this week playing in the Gulf Coast League. He has been taking part in his rehab in Sarasota. Schoop has not played since May 12. He is batting .268 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 34 games for Norfolk. He was batting .348 in 11 games in May at the time of his injury. Single-A Frederick third baseman Nicky Delmonico should return to the Keys lineup in the next day or so. He has been out since July 1 due to a viral illness. He is batting .259 with 13 homers, 29 RBIs and an OPS of .893 for the Keys.
