O's blast three homers to back Miguel Gonzalez's shutout in win over Reds

It was the Orioles' first complete-game shutout since Chris Tillman threw one on May 16 at Kansas City. Gonzalez walked one and fanned eight. He threw 117 pitches. Over his last nine starts, he is 4-2 with an ERA of 2.00 and has allowed two earned runs or less eight times. With this win, the Orioles have won eight straight home series for the first time since April 20 to June 6, 1984, according to STATS. They are 23-7 in their last 30 home games. The O's improved to 81-57 and their next victory will give them a third straight winning season for the first time since 1992-94. They are a season-high 24 games over .500. For the second night in a row, Schoop homered into the Reds bullpen. He hit No. 14 on a 3-2 pitch off Dylan Axelrod in the third for a 1-0 lead. The Orioles are 12-1 when Schoop homers. Schoop's homer was estimated to have traveled 446 feet by ESPN Stats and Info. That is the longest at Camden Yards this year. The O's exploded for three quick runs in the fourth. David Lough led off with his third homer. One out later, Nelson Cruz doubled and scored on Davis' two-run blast to left. It was No. 25 for Davis, who has 71 RBIs. Schoop added a two-run double in the seventh to match his season-high with three RBIs. The Orioles improved to 21-0 when hitting three or more homers. With that double, Cruz became the 10th Oriole to have a season of 35 or more homers and 25 or more doubles.
