O's game blog: Bundy pitches against Mets in series finale

The Orioles have won just one road series this year and it was in New York. They can sweep a two-game series this afternoon, winning another road series. And it's in New York.

At Citi Field, the Orioles play the New York Mets. Baltimore won 2-1 last night as Alex Cobb gave up just two hits and one run over six innings. Three O's relievers followed him to the mound as Mychal Givens, Richard Bleier and Brad Brach combined with Cobb on a three-hitter and Brach gained his ninth save.

The Orioles' struggling offense produced two runs in the first and then nothing else, but the pitching made that stand up as the Orioles improved to 5-31 when scoring three runs or less and to 2-20 when they fail to homer.

Since Bundy allowed four homers and seven runs and failed to get an out on May 8 versus Kansas City, he is 2-2 with a 3.21 ERA. Two starts ago he fanned 14 in a complete-game two-hitter at Chicago. In his last start he took a loss against Washington, allowing 11 hits and three runs over six innings.

Bundy allows a .320 batting average when facing lefty batters and .199 against right-handers. He is 1-3 with a 4.06 ERA in five road starts in 2018.

The Mets (27-31) have scored just seven runs during a five-game losing streak. The Mets have scored just two runs their past 33 innings and have been held to two runs or less 22 times after Tuesday's loss.

The Mets began the year going 11-1 and 14-5. But since then they are 13-26 and have lost 10 of their past 12 games. New York has now lost seven in a row at home and the Mets are 12-18 at Citi Field.

Right-hander Zack Wheeler (2-4, 5.14 ERA) gets the start today for the Mets making his 11th start. In his past four games, he is 0-2 with a 5.32 ERA. In five home starts he is 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA and .322 batting average against.

Wheeler has a 9.00 ERA in the first inning of his starts and a 1.80 ERA in the second inning. Left-handed batters hit .267 against him and right-handers are batting .281.
