O's game blog: Chris Tillman looks for win No. 11 in nightcap

After posting a 6-3 win last night and a 5-0 victory this afternoon, the Orioles host Tampa Bay tonight in the third game of this series and second game of the day-night doubleheader.

Right-hander Chris Tillman (10-1, 3.11 ERA) makes his 16th start and pitches against right-hander Jake Odorizzi (3-3, 3.63 ERA).

The Orioles are 13-2 when Tillman starts this year for a dazzling .867 win percentage. Tillman is 9-0 in 12 starts since his only loss on April 14 at Texas. He has allowed two earned runs or less 10 times and has recorded nine quality starts his last 12 outings. Since taking a no-decision in the start after that loss in Texas, Tillman is 9-0 with an ERA of 2.78 his last 11 outings, the nine-game win streak is a career high.

Tillman is 7-0 with a 2.81 ERA over 10 starts at Camden Yards. He is 5-0 with a 2.98 ERA in seven starts this year against the American League East. He has held hitters to a .222 average this season, the 10th-best mark among qualifying AL starting pitchers.

Odorizzi beat the San Francisco Giants in his last start Sunday, allowing just a run over six innings and 111 pitches. In four starts this month, he is 1-0 with a 4.37 ERA. Odorizzi has nine no-decisions this year to tie Miami's Wei-Yin Chen for the major league lead. In 10 career games (nine starts) versus the Orioles, Odorizzi is 2-3 with a 4.64 ERA. In five career starts in this ballpark, he is 1-3 with a 6.92 ERA.

The Orioles begin the night at 43-30 and leading the AL East by two games over Boston. They've won three in a row, five of seven and 15 of 23 games. The O's are now 20-13 versus the AL East and 14-6 in home division games.

The Baltimore offense has scored 39 runs with a team average of .341 the past six games. They are 20-for-60 (.333) with runners in scoring position in that stretch.

Tampa Bay has now lost nine in a row to fall to 31-41. It is the Rays' longest losing skid since the middle of the 2014 season. Playing with several regulars - including former Oriole Steve Pearce - on the disabled list, Tampa Bay has scored just four runs its past four games and 18 during the nine-game skid. The last four games, Tampa Bay has scored 0, 1, 3 and 0 runs.
