O's game blog: Dylan Bundy on the mound against K.C.

The Orioles came up with their seventh walk-off win of the year last night and it was also the Royals' seventh walk-off loss. The Orioles won 2-1 in the ninth inning, getting singles by Caleb Joseph, Rubén Tejada and Craig Gentry, whose hit ended the game.

The win was the Orioles' third in a row and ninth in the last 14 games since they started the second half going 0-3 versus the Cubs. The Orioles are 1-3 versus the Royals and 31-21 at home. They are 51-54 for the season.

Kansas City is 55-49 and has lost for just the second time in its last 12 games on Monday. The Royals went 16-10 in July and that was the best record in the American League. Kansas City is 14-9 versus the AL East. Before being held to one run last night, the Royals had scored 89 runs or 6.4 per game the previous 14 games.

Schoop-Swings-Orange-Sidebar.jpgDuring the month of July, O's second baseman Jonathan Schoop hit .343 (36-for-105) with four doubles, nine home runs and 28 RBIs. The 28 RBIs led the AL and ranked second in the majors for the month. Schoop's 36 hits ranked fourth in the AL, and his nine home runs tied for second-most in the AL and tied for third in the majors. Schoop was named the AL Player of the Week for July 17- 23 when he batted .433.

Schoop has 23 RBIs his past 14 games. He ranks second in the AL and seventh in the major leagues with 77 RBIs for the season. He trails only Nelson Cruz (79) for the AL lead, and Schoop's 23 RBIs since the All-Star break lead the majors, while his six home runs since the break are tied for sixth-most. Schoop also leads the majors among second basemen in RBIs for the year.

Right-hander Dylan Bundy (9-8, 4.53 ERA) will make his 21st start tonight. He will be pitching on eight days' rest, since he gave up seven runs over 5 1/3 innings on July 23 versus Houston. Bundy has an ERA of 7.85 his past seven starts, allowing five runs or more five times. In 11 home starts, he is 5-4 with a 4.29 ERA.
