O's game blog: It's Norris against Miley in Red Sox-O's series finale

After last night's amazing comeback win over Boston, the Orioles and Red Sox, who each have one win in this series, play their series finale at Camden Yards this afternoon.

Last night's win kept the O's from a six-game losing streak. Since July 19, 2011, they are 44-27 versus Boston, including a mark of 20-15 at Camden Yards. This year, the season series is tied at 3-3, and each club has scored 25 runs in the six games.

Norris has pitched just three, five and 2 1/3 innings so far. In 10 1/3 combined innings, he has allowed 18 hits and 20 runs, with six walks, 10 strikeouts and a .375 batting average against. Two of those starts were against Toronto, and he gave up 17 hits and 17 runs in 5 1/3 innings.

In a small sample size of three 2015 starts, right-handed batters are hitting .400 (8-for-20) versus Norris, with an OPS of 1.312, three doubles and two homers. Last year he limited right-handed batters to an average of .226.

Norris went 1-1 with a 2.51 ERA against the Red Sox last year, and is 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA over five career starts, averaging 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

The 28-year-old Miley was taken 43rd overall in the 2008 draft by Arizona out of Southeast Louisiana University. He was dealt to Boston last December in a five-player trade.

He is coming off an outing in which he pitched 5 2/3 scoreless against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, allowing just three hits and throwing first-pitch strikes to 18-of-22 hitters. That outing followed his second start of 2015, in which he allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings against Washington.

In his only career start against the Orioles, pitching in Arizona for the Diamondbacks on Aug. 12, 2013, he went seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. He is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.88 in four career road American League East starts.

The Orioles went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position in Saturday's win. They are batting .188 (9-for-48) with RISP over the last six games.

Orioles pitchers have allowed five homers in this series and 11 homers the last five games.
