O's game blog: Orioles begin 11-game homestand tonight

For O's fans concerned after the team got swept at Wrigley Field, here are some numbers to keep in mind. Beginning tonight as the Orioles host Tampa Bay, they will play 21 of their next 27 games at home and they are 15-5 in their last 20 games at Camden Yards. The Orioles will also play 27 of their final 34 regular-season games against the American League East and the club has a 30-19 division record. orioles-victory-outfield-jump-white-sidebar.jpgThe chance to come back from a tough weekend looks pretty good. Tampa Bay (64-66) has won three of four games since a four-game losing streak. The Rays are 20-13 since the All-Star break and 11-11 in August. The Rays are the only team in the major leagues with a wining road record (35-30) with an overall record under .500. The Rays' pitching has been on quite a roll. After posting a 2.71 team ERA in July, that number is even better this month at 2.54. The Rays' rotation ERA is 2.28 this month, the best in the majors. And, over the last 17 games, Tampa Bay starters are pitching to an ERA of 1.43. On the mound tonight, Chris Tillman (10-5, 3.55 ERA) faces right-hander Jake Odorizzi (9-10, 3.83 ERA). In three starts against the O's this season, Odorizzi is 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA. Tillman has recorded 14 straight starts allowing three earned runs or less, going 5-2 with a 2.31 ERA and 12 quality starts. That is the longest such streak by an O's pitcher since Ben McDonald went 14 in a row in 1993. Best division records in MLB: .642 - Los Angeles Dodgers (34-19) .612 - Orioles (30-19) .612 - St. Louis (30-19) In the minors: Triple-A Norfolk pitcher Mike Wright was named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the period ending Sunday. Wright lost a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth on Thursday night at Durham. Single-A Frederick lefty Steven Brault was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week. Recently promoted from Single-A Delmarva, Brault pitched six shutout innings last Thursday at Carolina in his Frederick debut. He gave up only one single and allowed just two baserunners in the game with one walk and one strikeout The Orioles' No. 1 Dominican Summer League team lost today to the Royals, 2-1 in 11 innings in Game 1 of a best-of-three playoff series.
