O's rally vs. Rivera, beat Yankees, 4-3 in 11

Luke Scott's homer leading off the last of the 9th off Mariano Rivera tied the game 3-3 and he doubled and scored the winning run in the last of the 11th as the Orioles beat the Yankees 4-3 today in front of 39,537 at Camden Yards. After Scott's double to left leading off the last of the 11th, Ty Wigginton ripped an RBI single into the gap in right center off David Robertson to score Scott and give the O's a walk-off win. It's their 12th walk-off win of the year and 6th under Buck Showalter. With the win, the O's avoid a three-game sweep and improve to 13-3 on the season in extra-innings games. They have now won eight straight extra-innings games and are 7-1 in extra frames vs. the AL East. The O's were down 3-1 heading to the last of the 8th. But Felix Pie's RBI single in the 8th scored Corey Patterson, who led off the frame with a bunt single and it was 3-2. Scott's blast over the right-field scoreboard, his 27th homer of the season, tied it in the 9th. It was just Rivera's fourth blown save in 35 chances on the year and second homer he has allowed all season. The Yankees are now 77-2 on the year when leading after eight innings. The O's rally got Chris Tillman off the hook for a loss. Tillman walked the game's first hitter, Brett Gardner and he later scored. He walked six on the day and four in the fourth inning when New York scored twice to lead 3-1. Tillman gave up three hits and three runs over 3 2/3 innings in his third career start vs. New York. He has allowed just four hits, but walked 12 in 10 innings over his past two starts. New York starter Andy Pettitte also got a no decision, but threw well in his first Major League start since July 18, as he allowed just three hits and one run over six innings, throwing 79 pitches. He gave up one run and two hits in the first inning, then gave up just one hit after that, retiring the last 11 batters he faced. With a win today, Pettittle would have improved to 28-6, 3.52 in 42 career outings vs. Baltimore. The Orioles, 59-90 on the year, begin a nine-game, ten-day road trip Monday night at Boston.
