O's scouting director Joe Jordan is leaving to join Phillies

The Orioles can add the position of scouting director to their front office search. After seven seasons as the Orioles' director of amateur scouting, Joe Jordan is leaving the organization to take a job with the Philadelphia Phillies. Jordan is expected to be named the Phillies' director of player development. He interviewed with the team this week and accepted the position today. Jordan interviewed Monday with the Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. along with Phillies senior advisor Pat Gillick and assistant general manager Benny Looper. With the Phillies, he will be joining a club that led the major leagues with 102 wins this year and has won the National League East five years in a row. Jordan took over as the Orioles' scouting director on Nov. 16, 2004 after eight years with the Montreal Expos and Florida Marlins. He selected Brandon Snyder with his initial Orioles' first-round pick in 2005 and selected high school pitcher Dylan Bundy with what turned out to be his last O's top pick in the draft last June. Here are Jordan's first-round Orioles' picks: 2005 - Brandon Snyder, 13th overall 2006 - Billy Rowell, ninth overall 2007 - Matt Wieters fifth overall 2008 - Brian Matusz, fourth overall 2009 - Matt Hobgood, fifth overall 2010 - Manny Machado, third overall 2011 - Dylan Bundy, fourth overall
