The Orioles today announced that they have acquired left-hander Paul Fry from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for 2016-17 International Signing Bonus Slot No. 105. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Parker Bridwell has been designated for assignment.
Fry, 24, has gone 13-14 with a 2.89 ERA (76 ER/237.0 IP), 12 saves, and 290 strikeouts over 151 career minor league games (six starts). He went 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA (17 ER/55.0 IP) and 65 strikeouts over 48 games (one start) with Triple-A Tacoma last season and made one appearance for the Rainiers this season. Fry was originally selected by the Mariners in the 17th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. He has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bridwell, 25, went 31-43 with a 4.79 ERA (350 ER/657.0 IP) over 143 career minor league games (117 starts). He pitched in two games with the Orioles last season.
