Orioles and Marlins lineups (plus notes)

DJ Stewart is in right field tonight and Austin Hays is starting in left as the Orioles begin a two-game series against the Marlins at Camden Yards.

Ryan Mountcastle is the cleanup hitter and first baseman, and Trey Mancini is serving as the designated hitter.

Mancini is 13-for-33 (.394) with two doubles and two home runs during his eight-game hitting streak. He has multiple hits in five of those games.

Domingo Leyba took ground balls at second base before batting practice and that's where he's starting tonight.

Ramón Urías on Sunday became the first Oriole with a walk-off RBI as a pinch-hitter since Nolan Reimold on July 24, 2016 against the Indians.

Spenser Watkins is making his fourth major league start and fifth appearance. He's held opponents to three runs and 11 hits in 16 1/3 innings with eight walks and 13 strikeouts.

Right-hander Sandy Alcantara is 5-9 with a 3.23 ERA and 1.153 WHIP in 20 starts. He's allowed only 10 home runs in 119 2/3 innings.

Alcantara has never faced the Orioles.

The Marlins swept the Orioles in four games last summer, designated twice as the home team at Camden Yards after the series in Miami was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Miami is in last place in the National League East with a 43-57 record. The road mark is 19-34.

The Marlins roster includes former Orioles pitchers Richard Bleier and David Hess and former minor league prospect Zach Pop, who was lost in the Rule 5 draft.

Manager Brandon Hyde is hoping that left-hander Keegan Akin and outfielder Anthony Santander are reinstated from the COVID-19 list in a few days, but he must decide whether they're able to play right away after the layoff.

The Orioles are expected to keep their starters lined up in the current order, which puts Alexander Wells, Matt Harvey, John Means and Watkins in the four-game series in Detroit.

Bruce Zimmermann, on the injured list with left biceps tendinitis, threw a scoreless inning yesterday in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League. He allowed one hit and struck out one in a game that was suspended due to rain.

Shortstop Richie Martin, on the 60-day injured list with a fractured left wrist, played for the FCL orange team today and was 0-for-1 with a walk, strikeout, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

"Obviously, the 60 days and then we'll see where they send him from there," Hyde said. "It sounds like he's progressing and we'll see when the 60 days are up where he goes."

Coby Mayo, last year's fourth-round pick, went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for the FCL black team.

Ty Blach, recovered from Tommy John surgery, threw a scoreless inning and earned the win. Blach was re-signed to a minor league deal on March 30, a transaction that flew under the radar.

The Orioles announced another wave of minor league promotions, led by pitching prospect Mike Baumann going from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk.

Other promotions include pitchers David Lebron, Ofelky Peralta and Nick Vespi moving up from Bowie to Norfolk; pitchers Logan Gillaspie and Drew Rom going from Single-A Aberdeen to Bowie; pitcher Brandon Young going from low Single-A Delmarva to Aberdeen; and pitcher Jean Pinto moving up from the Florida Complex League to Delmarva.
