Orioles and Yankees lineups (and notes)

Trey Mancini and Pedro Severino remain out of the Orioles lineup this afternoon for the series finale against the Yankees that also closes out the homestand.

"Both of those guys a little bit better today," said manager Brandon Hyde. "Trey's testing it right now in the batting cage and obviously not starting, but hopefully in the lineup in the next couple days."

Infielder Jahmai Jones remains on the bench, but he isn't hurt.

"Just playing Richie (Martin) at short tonight, keeping (Ramón) Urías' bat in the lineup," Hyde said. "Urías is feeling pretty good, so giving him a start at third base and Pat (Valaika) gives us solid defense with Chris (Ellis) on the mound."

Whether Hyde has much of a bench will be determined later after he takes a healthy body count.

"I'm seeing how Trey and Sevie are," Hyde said. "Those are question marks, so besides that, I've got the other three guys."

Wynns-Play-at-Plate-White-sidebar.jpgCatcher Austin Wynns has hit safely in six of his last eight games and is batting .304/.360/.435 (7-for-23) during that stretch. He's scored a run in three straight games.

A loss tonight will be the 100th for the Orioles this season.

Asked about the significance of the round number, Hyde said, "Well, it doesn't feel good, I can tell you that."

"Every loss hurts," he said. "Hopefully soon we're going to turn this around and not have 100-loss seasons. It's tough to stomach and it's hard to go through. And throwing last year out, '19 and '21 have been extremely, extremely challenging. It's hard on everybody, so whether it's loss 90 or loss 100 or loss 105, it's a bad feeling."

Keegan Akin, Zac Lowther and Alexander Wells are starting the weekend series in Boston.

The Red Sox are listing only Nick Pivetta for Saturday afternoon.

The Orioles taxi squad will include catcher Nick Ciuffo.
