Orioles and Yankees lineups to close out series

NEW YORK – The latest prospect-packed Orioles lineup tonight includes Colton Cowser in left field again, with Gunnar Henderson leading off and playing shortstop, and Jordan Westburg at second base.

Manager Brandon Hyde put Ramón Urías at third base and Aaron Hicks in center field.

Cedric Mullins is the designated hitter.

Austin Hays stays on the bench.

Kyle Bradish has registered a 3.58 ERA and 1.205 WHIP in 15 starts. He’s held opponents to six runs in his last four starts covering 25 innings.

Bradish pitched at Yankee Stadium on May 23 and surrendered four runs and seven hits in five innings. Harrison Bader hit a solo homer.

In three career starts against New York, Bradish has allowed eight earned runs (nine total) and 18 hits with 11 walks and 14 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings. Bader is 4-for-6 with a double and two home runs.

Note to Yankees hitters: Bradish has increased his curveball usage this season from 12.8 percent to 17.3 percent. Opponents are batting .153 against it, and he’s getting chases on 42.1 percent of pitches out of the zone, per STATS data.

The Orioles are trying to split the four-game series. They trail the first-place Rays, who have lost four in a row, by five games and own the second-best record in the American League at 50-35.

The offense has produced a .207/.289/.323 line with five homers and 24 runs scored in the last eight games.

Luis Severino is making his ninth start. He’s posted a 6.30 ERA and 1.650 WHIP in 40 innings.

Severino followed six scoreless innings against the Rangers on June 24 by allowing seven earned runs and nine total in four innings in St. Louis. He’s 7-1 with a 3.39 ERA and 0.911 WHIP in 12 career games against the Orioles.

Anthony Santander is 2-for-6 with two home runs against Severino. James McCann is 3-for-6 with two doubles.

Opponents have a .342 average against Severino’s slider and a .300 average against his fastball.

Anthony Volpe is batting .432/.447/.703 (16-for-37) in his last 10 games. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is batting .389/.442/.611 (14-for-36) in his last 12 games.

Nine of Josh Donaldson’s 13 hits this season are home runs.

Bader is batting .400 with a .800 slugging percentage when ahead in the count, compared to a .197 average and .324 slugging when behind.

The Orioles are starting Cole Irvin, Tyler Wells and Kyle Gibson in Minnesota to close out the first half. The Twins are starting Bailey Ober, Sonny Gray and Joe Ryan.

Triple-A Norfolk’s Grayson Rodriguez was named International League Pitcher of the Month for June after going 4-0 with a 2.22 ERA in five starts. He had a 1.06 WHIP and .185 average against, and he struck out 39 batters in 28 1/3 innings.

Double-A Bowie’s Coby Mayo was named Eastern League Player of the Month after batting .340 with a 1.178 OPS, eight home runs and 18 RBIs. He failed to reach base in only two of 26 games.

YES Network provided an update on cameraman Pete Stendel, who was hit by Henderson’s errant throw last night in the fifth inning:

“Pete suffered an orbital fracture and is home resting. He and his family appreciate everyone’s support.”
