Orioles designate outfielder David Lough for assignment

The Orioles have recalled catcher Steve Clevenger from Triple-A Norfolk and designated outfielder David Lough for assignment.

Clevenger is in the Orioles clubhouse this afternoon and is listed as a reserve for tonight's series opener against the Athletics. Caleb Joseph gets the start at catcher.

Clevenger hasn't seen much major league action this season, appearing in only four games with the Orioles. He is 5-for-11, however, and will provide manager Buck Showalter with another option behind the plate.

Matt Wieters, meanwhile, reported that his hamstring feels better and said he is available tonight if needed.

Lough has managed to hit just .202 in 76 games with the Orioles this season. He has four home runs and 12 RBIs, and spent time in both left and center field.

Also, outfielder Henry Urrutia is on the taxi squad and will be recalled on Saturday.

Urrutia is batting .292/.344/.414 with 21 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 50 RBIs in 107 games with Norfolk. He's a career .276/.276/.310 hitter in 24 games with the Orioles.
