Orioles DFA Logan Verrett and Tyler Wilson (plus Orioles lineup)

The Orioles have selected the contract of reliever Richard Rodriguez from Triple-A Norfolk as part of their September call-ups. Needing two openings on the 40-man roster, they designated pitchers Logan Verrett and Tyler Wilson for assignment.

The club also announced that it selected the contracts of catcher Chance Sisco and designated hitter Pedro Álvarez and recalled outfielder Joey Rickard and reliever Jimmy Yacabonis.

Rodriguez is 4-4 with a 2.42 ERA, 10 saves and 1.05 WHIP in 42 games with Norfolk.

Sisco will wear No. 15. Rodriguez will wear No. 52.

The Orioles acquired Verrett from the Mets on Nov. 30 for cash considerations.

Wilson, a 10th-round pick in 2011 out of the University of Virginia, is 7-8 with a 4.74 ERA in 20 starts for Norfolk. He's 2-2 with a 7.04 ERA in nine games (one start) for the Orioles this season and 8-10 with a 5.02 ERA in 42 major league games (19 starts).

Minor league pitching coordinator John Wasdin and infield coordinator Dave Anderson have joined the coaching staff.

Shortstop J.J. Hardy is at Camden Yards, but apparently will remain on the disabled list.

Tim Beckham collected 50 hits in August, the highest total in a month for an American League player on a new team, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Beckham broke the record set by Joe DiMaggio, with 48 hits for the Yankees in May 1936, and matched by Stan Sperry for the Athletics in Aug. 1938.

Joe Biagini is making his 13th start for the Blue Jays this season among his 39th appearances. He started against the Twins on Sunday and allowed five runs and nine hits and walked three batters in 3 2/3 innings.

Biagini has made five appearances against the Orioles this season, including one start, and allowed three runs and eight hits in 10 innings. Adam Jones is 4-for-8 against him. Jonathan Schoop is 4-for-11 with two doubles.

Kevin Pillar is 8-for-19 (.421) lifetime against Kevin Gausman. Darwin Barney is 6-for-15 (.400) with a home run.

Kendrys Morales, who had three home runs and a career-high seven RBIs last night, is 1-for-10 against Gausman.
