Orioles Game 1 lineup vs. Mariners (updated)

Ryan Mountcastle is batting sixth this afternoon in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Mariners, the same spot as last night prior to the postponement due to inclement weather.

Maikel Franco is batting cleanup. DJ Stewart is in left field and Ramón Urías is the second baseman.

Manager Brandon Hyde is trying to take a little pressure off Mountcastle, who's 7-for-38 (.184) with a .541 OPS and 17 strikeouts that led the majors yesterday. He's 3-for-18 with nine strikeouts in the last four games.

Game 2 starter Dean Kremer lasted only three innings in his first start in New York, allowing three runs and five hits with four walks and five strikeouts. He was supposed to pitch last night and had to settle for playing catch in the outfield after the postponement.

Mariners left-hander Justus Sheffield, who also was supposed to start last night, has appeared in 22 games in the majors and posted a 4.64 ERA and 1.525 WHIP in 99 innings and averaged 3.9 walks per nine innings. He faced the White Sox in his lone appearance this season and allowed four earned runs (six total) and eight hits in five innings.

Right-handers are slashing .310/.378/.437 lifetime against Sheffield and left-handers hit .174/.304/.267.

In his only career start against the Orioles, on Sept. 21, 2019 in Baltimore, Sheffield allowed four runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Game 2 starter Nick Margevicius, also a left-hander, has made two relief appearances this year and allowed four runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings. He's surrendered two home runs.

Margevicius is 4-10 with a 5.94 ERA and 1.447 WHIP in 29 games (19 starts) with the Padres and Mariners. He's a reverse-splits guy, with left-handers batting .321/.355/.628 and right-handers .259/.330/.454.

Tonight marks his first appearance against the Orioles.
