Orioles' minor league spring camp roster and schedule

The Orioles have a group of 72 pitchers and 14 catchers scheduled to report to their minor league spring training camp at the Buck O'Neil Baseball Complex at Twin Lakes Park on Friday, March 6. They will be joined by 40 infielders and 26 outfielders due to report on March 10.

baseballs-in-bin-sidebar.jpgThat group of 152 players is due to begin minor league exhibition games on March 18, and that schedule will run through April 4.

Keep in mind this group will grow in numbers as the Orioles make cuts from major league camp and those players are reassigned to the minor leagues. This includes some players that are already on the 40-man roster who will be optioned to the minors and some players ticketed for the minors that are in major league camp right now as non-roster players, such as pitcher Hunter Harvey, infielder Michael Almanzar and outfielder Dariel Alvarez.

Beato is listed with the group of pitchers. The former Orioles draft pick agreed to terms on a minor league contract with the club yesterday, pending a physical. If he passes the physical, he will officially sign and then report to Twin Lakes Park.

A third baseman, Anderson can take part in spring camp workouts. In January, he received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for an amphetamine, a stimulant in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The suspension of Anderson, who is currently on the Delmarva roster, will be effective at the start of the 2015 season. As he serves the suspension, he will remain in Florida and can continue to work out during the Orioles' extended spring training camp.

The Orioles selected Anderson, 22, in the ninth round of the 2014 draft out of the University of Mississippi. He batted .307/.354/.403 with 12 doubles, one triple, one home run and 19 RBIs in 49 games with short-season Single-A Aberdeen.

The minor league exhibition games schedule:

March 18: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Boston
March 19: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Tampa Bay
March 20: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Boston
March 21: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Minnesota
March 22: camp day
March 23: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Minnesota
March 24: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Tampa Bay
March 25: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Boston
March 26: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Tampa Bay
March 27: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Boston
March 28: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Minnesota
March 29: camp day
March 30: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Minnesota
March 31: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Tampa Bay
April 1: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Boston
April 2: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Minnesota
April 3: AAA/AA away, A home vs. Tampa Bay
April 4: AAA/AA home, A away vs. Tampa Bay

All games are listed to start at either noon or 1 p.m., except on April 4, which is listed as a 10 a.m. start. There is no admission charge to attend the games at Twin Lakes Park, but seating is very limited and fans should bring sunscreen. You are out in the open, but you have a chance to watch two games going on at the same time.

Before those games begin on March 18, the players that reported to the O's early minor league camp will play two exhibition games. They will face a team from Puerto Rico in Sarasota at 2:05 p.m. on March 14 and a national team from Canada in St. Petersburg on March 16 at 1:05 p.m.

The Orioles' four full-season affiliates all have season openers scheduled for April 9 with Triple-A Norfolk at Charlotte, Double-A Bowie at Richmond, Single-A Frederick hosting Winston-Salem and Single-A Delmarva hosting Greensboro.

It was just one game: That was a rough start to the exhibition season for the Orioles. Ubaldo Jimenez certainly needs to pitch better and has time to do that, but that was not a good start. Plenty of time for him to turn it around before opening day. My tweet from last night:
